The autism walk is a great event to raise community awareness and be together. There is a large resource fair for families to learn about community organizations. The weather is great, the kids have a great time, and families have the opportunity to get to know each other. This is an important event for our classroom because it builds community and connects families with resources. We look forward to it all year! Hope to see you there at the upcoming walk! See info below!

Upcoming walk:

Sunday, October 25, 2015

Tempe Beach Park, 8:00 am

2014 Walk...What a great time!

We seriously have the best time every year! We had a great turnout with 21 walkers on October 26, 2014. We raised $511.16 during Sine's Dress Down for Diversity Day on October 24th. As in years past, students and staff donated $1 to wear non-uniform clothes. Our walk team donated all the proceeds to the walk. Many thanks to Renee Catalano at Sine for taking photos of all the students in their non-uniform clothes. Many thanks also to those who helped count the money raised at Sine! We are looking forward to another great walk next year!

2013 Walk...What a great time!

On October 27, 2013, we had a great turnout with 22 walkers. We raised $548.95 during Sine's Dress Down for Diversity Day on October 23rd. Students donated $1 to wear non-uniform clothes to school. This was the first year that there was an "autism run" event, but we all opted for the 1 mile or 5 K walk instead. It was a great day! Thanks to all who participated!

2012 Walk...What a great time!

On October 28, 2012, we had a great turnout for our team of 39 walkers. As a team, we donated $1670.10, including funds raised on our school campus during Dress Down for Diversity Day on October 24th. Students raised $705.10 by donating $1 to wear non-uniform clothes that day. At the walk on Oct 28th, our team had a great time showing our support, learning about community resources, playing in the kids area, and building community together. We are already looking forward to participating in 2013!

2011 Walk...What a great time!

We had over 50 adults/children attend the Autism Walk on October 30, 2011. There were excellent resources, breakfast provided by Sprouts, many other free items, and beautiful weather. As a team, we raised over $800! $516.49 was raised at Melvin E. Sine during our campus-wide "Dress Down for Autism" Day on October 19th. Students donated $1 to wear street clothes instead of their uniforms and we celebrated diversity on our campus. The walk was a great experience and we are very excited to continue this tradition in future years!
